January 24 – 28, 2022
Below are the assignments you should be working on throughout the week. Complete #1 on Monday. Then, begin working on #2 so you and your group can make a plan for completion. Work on #3 and #4 (individual writing assignments) as you have time in class and at home. We will discuss the Anglo-Saxon feast more on Friday, but you should be working diligently each day to complete the assignments below in a manner that reflects college-level/honors-level work.
1. Create a Beowulf: Triple Venn Diagram comparing/contrasting his three battles. You can just draw this on a sheet of paper (three overlapping circles). What significances can you find by examining the similarities and differences? Discuss with your group.
2. Beowulf Media Group Project: This is a group project. Directions can be found on the class website. Be creative. Be thorough. The final product(s) should be of high quality. You may need to delegate some responsibilities, but everyone in the group should contribute extensively. These projects will be presented at our Anglo-Saxon feast (Monday, 1/31).
3. Anglo Saxon Boast: This is an individual assignment. The directions handout that includes a prewriting sheet, requirements, and rubric can be found on the website. There is also a video that explains the assignment in more detail; I made this during virtual, so some references to dates could be inaccurate, but the explanation of the assignment itself should be accurate. You will perform your boast to the class at our Anglo-Saxon feast (Monday, 1/31).
4. Hero’s Journey in the Media and Me (Part B): You can find this assignment in the Anglo-Saxon folder on the class website. We’ve already done Part A when we applied the hero’s journey to a movie. Now, you should complete Part B, which is an essay applying the Hero’s Journey to your own life. There are links within the directions that will take you to articles that will help you think about how the hero’s journey applies to your life and about how to structure your essay. Due Monday, 1/31.
